Colin Mitchell is the driving force behind CMA, and its primary resource. CMA has access to a number of similar services and can take on more complex commissions as a “one stop shop”.
Colin is a professional, with more than 30 years experience of affordable housing and senior management in the UK and abroad. Originally trained and working as a Quantity Surveyor in heavy Civil Engineering, Colin became disillusioned by a claims-oriented working culture, and in early 1977 moved to work in Kuwait, and subsequently to Iran, Switzerland and Saudi Arabia, delivering best value through partnered mixed funding housing projects.
Returning to UK in mid-1981, Colin worked as a consultant to the Housing Corporation, setting up teams and delivering closure on more than 4,000 overdue Final Accounts and installing key processes to prevent further backlogs, all prior to personal computers. Employed directly by the Corporation in 1984, Colin eventually became Operations Manager for the LHC(S) region, responsible for delivering its entire £300m investment programme and strategy.
In 1992, Colin very successfully moved to the private sector delivering affordable housing, working first with developer Wimpey Homes, then contractor/developer Lovell Partnerships, and latterly contractor Osborne Homes in 2000. At Osborne, Colin substantially raised their profile in social housing, elderly provision, and health and education projects, increasing turnover tenfold to £60m in 2009, being appointed Divisional Director in 2001. Osborne became a respected force in social housing contracting, development and PFI, from its roots as a south coast based subcontractor.
In 2009, Colin set up CMA, to provide services to the niche market he saw emerging in business development and improvement, for social housing and health services providers.
Today CMA has an impressive list of satisfied clients, ranging from local SMEs to £multi-million constructors. CMA operates with a database of more than 1500 relevant and current contacts across the southern UK.
CMA has a healthy turnover and a good forward order book based on a mix of project based commissions and retainer-led appointments.
